Der Pavilion
Der Pavilion is a cultural programme in the Engadin: exhibitions, concerts and evenings hosted across Sankt Moritz. Its creative direction and identity are by POMO.
The site carries that identity into the browser, motion included, and was designed together with POMO.
The Hotel Kempinski location page, and Singular Voices.
The identity is typographic: each title is drawn out of a field of sparkles, set over flat blocks of colour that change from one event to the next. Bringing it into a site was a question of behaviour rather than appearance. How a title made of stars holds at 390 pixels wide and at 2560, where it breaks into two lines, how dense the stars stay as the type shrinks, what the page shows while it loads.
The sparkles are alive: they light up and go out at their own pace, so a title reads as something flickering rather than printed. That motion came with a small tool built around it, its parameters exposed, size, density, speed, so design and development could work on the same values instead of trading screenshots. The values that ship are the ones set there.
The tool the star motion was tuned in, and one of the pages it sets.
The programme keeps changing, so the site is built to take it: every exhibition and concert arrives with its own colour pair and its own title, starting with Singular Voices at the Kempinski, and nothing needs redesigning to host it.
