Hyperlocal 2023
Hyperlocal is Zero's festival of neighbourhoods: two days in which Nolo, Pigneto, Vomero, Croydon and the scenes of seven cities end up in the same building. The 2023 edition was held at Via Sile 8, the brutalist municipal block in Corvetto with a running track on the roof.
The animation made for it became the image of that edition.
Type dragged until the damage became the typeface.
The starting point was the way an image travels through a city: a poster pasted over another poster, a flyer photographed and reposted until the letters lose their edges. The type was worked destructively, dragged and torn frame by frame, keeping what the breakage produced rather than the shape it started from.
What comes out is a black and white that behaves like a surface in the street: scratched, layered, never twice the same.

The same erosion goes over the building. Via Sile 8, eight floors of municipal Milan, appears eaten by the forces that eat the lettering, a public block turned into the face of a festival for one weekend.
From there the edition took everything else: billboards in the metro, banners, programme, social.
